Word Wall Word Monster

I'm always looking for unique ways to teach my kids.  The other day I came across a fabulous idea called
Peek-A-Boo learning.  The Peek-A-Boo learning post inspired me to make my this craft!

Word Wall Word Monster

Again, my hope was to engage my kids when practicing their site words by infusing a bit of fun and creativity
into the activity.

This word wall monster loves to eat sight words.

My kids really enjoyed feeding this monster their sight words after they had reviewed them

The best part~He's made mostly of recycled materials

Supplies you need:
  • shoe box
  • a lid off a baby wipes container
  • googly eyes and craft foam circles
  • fake fur
  • pom pom
  • brown felt square
  • cardboard or card stock circles to use for your site words
  • sissors
  • glue
This craft can be adapted to teach your child colors, letters, numbers etc.  You could create a theme unit by adding this craft.
I hope this post inspires you to adopt a "hands on learning" approach when teaching your kids.
By the way, who ate candy for breakfast?  Does a mini coffee crisp bar dipped in my coffee count as breaking the rules?  Don't tell my kids I'm such a hypocrite!  I refused to let them eat any of their halloween candy until after supper tonight.

What a great learning activity! Even better that it's an upcycled project! Thanks for linking up at the Catwalk :)
